So, you’ve decided to pursue a career massage therapy, but where should you go to get your training? Training is the most important aspect of a career, as the way you are trained is the way you will perform. There are various forms of massage one can learn, from Shiatsu and Mystherapy to Medical and Aromatherapy massage, with all the different specialties, comes an array of education options. Here are some of the most recognized and premiere schools to consider:

Cortiva Institute:

The Cortiva approach is holistic and integrative; they train their therapists to work in many conditions and locations that range from hospitals to spas. According to the institute, they address three basic areas of study: anatomy, physiology and pathology; massage theory and practice and interpersonal communication and professional foundations. Tuition varies by location, running approximately $5,000 to $13,000 for 750 to 1,000 hours.

National Holistic Institute

This California-based school incorporates both Eastern and Western philosophies and concepts into its curriculum. Each student will learn the science, techniques and business of massage therapy. A student can chose and customize their program to include either a clinical or holistic approach to therapy. This program, located in five cities in California, runs around 720 hours and costs approximately $13,000.
